Sirius

Their story

Sirius has been rescuing animals in the Kyiv region for 25 years, and today cares for more than 3,000 of them, mostly dogs and cats, alongside sheep, hedgehogs, and even peacocks. When Russian forces occupied the shelter's grounds for 35 days in 2022, staff refused to leave, and every one of the roughly 3,500 animals sheltered there at the time survived. Beyond emergency care, Sirius runs free sterilization days for the community, works with local schools on animal welfare education, and helps place animals into homes across Ukraine and abroad.
